This experience helped to provide me with a strong foundation for the career I chose in helping to support others to reach their true potential.

I have developed over the years a natural strong rapport with young people, family dynamics as well as covering couple’s relationship issues.  I have also worked alongside and counselled Vetrans.

I have combined my many years of experience in the field of Alternative Therapies and have created a program of well-being sessions, incorporating deep relaxation and stress relief techniques.  I have ran deep relaxing and stress release group sessions since 2007, these have proven to be very popular.  As well as running small stress releasing groups at the Blue Button Cafe, I offer one to one sessions in Counselling, Hypnotherapy, NLP which is Neuro Linguistic Programming, TFT, Regression work as well as Reiki of which I am a Master Practitioner in.  I often use a good combination of several techniques together, promoting a strong, healthy and happy mind set.

My weight loss Hypnotherapy/Counselling/NLP programme is very affective and highly popular.  I offer a one price for the first 3 sessions, where you can also take a recording home with you.

I can offer one to one and group work to promote a healthy mind set, thus resulting in a happier and healthier lifestyle.

Margaret Keith

I am a qualified Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor. I have been offering psychological services to young people and adults for over 10 years in schools and in community and voluntary services as well as supporting people through employee assistance programmes and in private practice. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I adhere to their guidance and ethical framework.

I have extensive experience in working with clients facing a variety of psychological concerns, ranging in severity and intensity. I have helped people suffering from different emotional challenges, including depression, anxiety, obsessive and compulsive disorder, phobias, trauma, eating disorders, relationship and personality difficulties, bereavement, self-harming behaviours, domestic violence, sexual abuse, work related issues, bullying, emotional abuse and neglect in their lives.

My therapeutic approach integrates both Counselling and Psychotherapy. I draw from both Counselling and Psychotherapy in providing a space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. Counselling tends to focus on more specific problems whereas Psychotherapy can address deeper underlying issues.

My work draws on many different models including:

Person-Centred Therapy - facilitates the personal growth and relationships of an individual by allowing them to explore and utilise their own strengths and personal identity;

Transactional Analysis - analysing why we think, feel and behave in the way we do which is very effective in helping individuals understand their problems and help make lasting life changes;

Mindfulness - the ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us;

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - focuses on how our thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect our feelings and behaviour, and teaches us coping skills for dealing with different problems.

The focus of our work will be to explore the concerns you have towards your life, in a safe and respectful environment. We will work collaboratively and I will help you gain a better understanding of yourself, and how you can choose to live more fully and with greater contentment. I will help you to understand your difficulties, build on strengths and develop coping strategies to overcome difficulties and build resilience. I will assist you to develop behaviours and patterns of thinking that helps you to reach your goals, maintain well-being and live the life you value.

As individuals, I believe we have different needs when looking for therapeutic support. Through a holistic, personalised approach, therapy can provide beneficial improvements in mental well-being and the decision making that is right for us.

With over 10 years experience working with individuals from different backgrounds, lifestyles, race and religions, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and practice of caring for others in a professional capacity. I continue to explore and further my current practice to enhance self-reflection, awareness and knowledge.

Samantha Reed

Hello my name is Sam and I am a Fully Qualified Integrative Counsellor.

My work draws on using different models; Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

I have voluntarily counselled for two years, I spent one placement at Place 2 be (P2B) which is based within mainstream schools in England, so this was child based. I adored working with the children. I could address their issues through play, drawing and role-play. A truly rewarding experience for the pupil and myself as their Counsellor, I feel that I built so much trust and was highly respected off all the children that I was fortunate to counsel.

My second placement was at Women's Health in South Tyneside (WHIST). WHIST is a female only charitable organisation and extremely popular in South Shields. My clients all presented with diverse issues holding them back in life, I realise how much I was appreciated for my time when we had our final endings and their gratitude was beautiful.

My own personal counselling began when I sought Counselling, I needed to seek closure on my past as I still had underlying issues that still presented in my daily life. What I will say is that it is the best thing that I could have done!  Any individual who realises that they are struggling and seeks counselling, to take the first step is the hardest but it will change your life for the better!

I am fully insured and a member of the British Association of Counselling Psychotherapy (BACP), I also adhere to their guidance and ethical framework.

I have extensive experience in working with clients who all present with diverse needs and this is why I am qualified to use different models and theories as no two clients are the same.

I am experienced in working with clients that present with Low self-esteem, suffer anxiety, depression, menopausal symptoms, suicidal thoughts, relationship breakdowns, bereavement, social disorders, emotional abuse and neglect.

I am very keen to work with Adults and Children with or without SEN..

As your counsellor, I will always be non-judgemental, empathetic, congruent, honest and confidentiality is always kept within the counselling room. I always inform my clients that although I do not have a " magic wand", what I can tell them is that I would like to be with them on their counselling journey.

Person-Centred Therapy - Looks at the client's personal growth, client's strengths and personal identity.

Psychotherapy - This therapy can help a client when they have underlying issues buried in the unconscious, the past and need to be addressed in the present.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - This therapy looks at the client's thoughts and beliefs and helps the client look at things in a different way.

As an Integrative Counsellor I am still continuing to grow every day, I know that I love being a Counsellor and look forward to meeting new clients within the Blue Button Cafe.
