Blue Button Cafe

An art and craft cafe, for adults and children, to promote emotional and physical wellbeing.       A safe place for all.

My Journey

Having enjoyed the vocation of being a Primary School Teacher, for over 20 years, and being a Deputy Head, has given me an insight into the effects of emotional wellbeing on an individual’s daily activities and achievements.

Engaging in a four years Honours Degree with Qualified Teacher Status, I developed the skills of provoking in others the motivation, resilience, perseverance and other attitudes that are necessary in everyday life.

Being passionate about emotional wellbeing I gained a Diploma in Coaching. I also undertook an in-depth study on Emotional Intelligence. Recognising the importance and need of emotional wellbeing, I grabbed the opportunity to teach this to the whole school during assemblies.

Also, personal experiences, for my children and myself, have highlighted the need for mindfulness provision. The waiting lists for support are far too long, especially when people find themselves in such a vulnerable state of mind.

I believe, like many others, that there is a connection between mind and body. If the mind is positive, resilient and strong then so is the physical.

'You have the power to heal your life, and you need to know that.  We think so often that we are helpless, but we're not.  We always have the power of our minds ... Claim and consciously use your power.'  Louise Hay

Mental health difficulties are on the rise and have never been so high on the public agenda. However, services are stretched and waiting lists are long.

North Tyneside is a small area which I have lived and worked for over 16 years and have built excellent relationships as an outward looking practitioner. I am passionate about living and working in this area, therefore the Blue Button Café will encompass the community spirit by supporting local families by providing a safe place for all.
